The kitchens are fired up once more for the final local leg of The Good Taste Series, and the young talented chefs of the Hyatt properties prepare for one last round before the Asian regional in Macau.
The best and brightest of the Hyatt properties in the Philippines, the young chefs face off for the right to represent the country in the Asian regional qualifiers before the grand competition in the US (for more on The Good Taste Series, see my previous post, The Good Taste Series 2018 at Hyatt City of Dreams). In an afternoon where classical training and inspired creativity come together in a flurry of swift and decisive motions, the scenes from the kitchen reveal a whole lot of potential. Read on for a closer peek inside the grand showcase kitchen...
In dramatic fashion, the curtains are raised on the Grand Ballroom's Showcase Kitchen for the final round before the regional (for more on The Grand Ballroom of Grand Hyatt Manila, see my earlier post, #LivingGrand: A Christmas Cake Mixing Preview and a Sumptuous Buffet Lunch at The Grand Kitchen of Grand Hyatt Manila).
The massive and elegant show kitchen at the Grand Ballroom is the perfect stage for the competition, with the warm and amber glow of pristine marble contrasting with the sleek stainless steel modernity of a fully functioning culinary hub. The young chefs quickly man their assigned stations, and it's game on...
Each chef goes through their ingredients and equipment, running it through their mental check list. The kitchen becomes a whole different world, a virtual showcase of young culinary talents. And the young chefs are feeling it. This is their grand stage.
Working on a plan that's been refined hundreds of times in their minds, each chef proceeds with the task in a calm and orderly manner. Off the bat, it's one impressive sight.
The metallic sounds of knives and pans fill the air in a blur of frenetic activity...
...as the executive culinary teams of Grand Hyatt Manila and Hyatt City of Dreams inspect each station along with the guest judges.
One can't help but feel immersed in the energetic vibe of the kitchen, with each chef extremely focused and in the zone...
...but the young chefs who've made it this far in The Good Taste Series are well on their way in making history. And the winner? We are. Who knows, these same young chefs will amaze you and I sometime soon...
