Four New Dishes and Four More Reasons To Visit Paradise Dynasty

Paradise Dynasty recently introduced four new signature dishes to its growing menu selection for even more tempting reasons to visit the world renowned Singaporean chain (for more on Paradise Dynasty, see my previous posts, Paradise Just Got A Whole Lot Closer: Paradise Dynasty Opens at The Podium from early this year and Noodles and Dumplings...at Paradise Dynasty on some of my personal picks). Inside Paradise Dynasty, panoramic glass windows allow diners a view of the kitchen where all the magic happens. Preparing for the lunch service, Paradise Dynasty's team of chefs begin to expedite orders for their signature Xiao Long Bao...

All orders for the famous soup dumplings are made from scratch and prepared as you order. It takes roughly fifteen minutes for your order to be served to your table, fresh from the steamers. Each dumpling is delicately hand-made, with its distinctive "18-folds" coming together at the top.


Paradise Dynasty takes the traditional Xiao Long Bao further with its creative infusion of flavors. From Original, Ginseng, Foie Gras, Black Truffle, Cheese, Crab Roe, Garlic, and Szechuan, diners can experience a whole range of unique flavors. The Special Dynasty 8-Flavors Xiao Long Bao (P 388-8 pcs) is always a good start to any feast at Paradise Dynasty. My favorites? The Foie Gras, Black Truffle and Crab Roe. And I can have these dumplings all day.


If you prefer the classic Xiao Long Bao, the Signature Original Xiao Long Bao (P 188-6 pcs/P 298-10 pcs) should do the trick. The staff also gives out a handy guide on the proper way of enjoying Xiao Long Bao detailed in five easy steps (see my post here).


As you work your way down to the last dumpling, you're just about ready for the new signature dishes of Paradise Dynasty. There's more to Paradise Dynasty than noodles and dumplings...

The first of the new dishes were then served starting with the Deep-Fried Duck with Steamed Bun (P 1,288), crisp and juicy imported duck paired with warm steamed buns, delicately julienned vegetables and herbs with a special sauce. The staff then preps the dish on your table...


...using a pair of forks to shred the crisp deep-fried duck. Marinated with white peppercorns and Sichuan peppers, the savory richness of the duck is infused with even more layers of flavor. And after a few minutes, the shredded duck is ready for the next step.


Simply pick up a soft steamed bun, add a dab of the special dark sauce, layer it with julienned vegetables and herbs and top with shredded duck. Add a final drizzle of the special sauce, and that's it.


One bite delivers complex yet balanced flavors and contrasting textures, with the bold flavors of the duck tempered by the sharpness of the sauce and fresh, clean notes of the vegetables and herbs. You'll definitely want another...


Then, the staff served the first of two seafood courses with the Grouper with Pine Nuts and Fruits (P 1,288), an elegantly plated dish with fresh whole grouper meticulously deboned and deep-fried draped in a sweet and tart sauce with grilled pine nuts. The subtle flavors of the fish are kicked up by the sauce, completed by the nuts and fruits layering a sour sweetness to the dish.


It's this sweet and sour base that adds a comfortingly familiar finish to the dish. But it's the grouper that makes the dish special, soft with a lightly crisp outer layer and a distinctive briny sweetness. 


Paradise Dynasty has one more seafood dish with even bolder flavors, the Grilled Grouper with Tofu in Mapo Tofu Style (P 1,288). Grilled to perfection adding a whisper of smoky notes, the whole grouper is slathered in a thick sauce that packs a potent and spicy punch.


The silky soft tofu and dark aromatic and spicy sauce add flavorful heat to the dish, the kind that lingers long after the first bite. The heat isn't overwhelming, but it's there. Best paired with steamed white rice, the dish delivers deep, rounded notes with the spiciness completing the flavors. The staff can carve up the dish to equal portions as part of the table service, served in individual bowls ensuring you get your fair share. 


But it's the last dish that had me going for seconds and thirds. The Shanghai Style Braised Pork Belly (P 588) is Paradise Dynasty's take on a Chinese classic, delicately braised for that melt-in-your-mouth texture. Draped in a thick and sweet sauce, one bite is all you need as you mentally file this in your list of favorites at Paradise Dynasty. Each bite coats your palate with indulgent layers of flavors, capped by a rich sweetness for that perfect finish. Just perfect.  


And while you're at Paradise Dynasty, why not indulge in another favorite? You can't say no to Paradise Dynasty's Crispy Fried Crystal Prawns Tossed with Salted Egg Yolk (P 588). You just can't.

Cap your feast on a high note with Paradise Dynasty's Charcoal Custard Lava Bun (P 188-3 pcs). Pillow-soft and sweet, it's the perfect ending at Paradise Dynasty and great when paired with hot tea. But let it cool before that first bite...
