"Adapting a recipe's ingredients is completely in your hands. But the method is what really matters. The techniques in cooking are rigorous and imperative: They are your passport to a successful dish. Cooks must practice, practice, practice. Anyone can learn, but you need focus, proper understanding, and to go at the right pace, not running before you can walk."
Effortless precision and perfect execution have defined Chef Gordon Ramsay's restaurants all over the world, and this master chef's philosophy can now be experienced at Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill. I've always gauged a restaurant's seriousness about its offerings and menu with the complimentary bread at the start of the service. And Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill impresses with its buttery soft warm rolls...
...perfectly paired with silky smooth and soft butter with its mild yet pronounced lemon hints cutting through the richness with its bright contrasting notes. And yes, Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill is definitely serious about their offerings down to the smallest details starting with their complimentary bread and butter.
It's time for Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill's famous Appetizers like the Crispy Crab Cake & Caviar (P 880) topped with delicately poached hen's egg and silky smooth and creamy Hollandaise sauce. Filled with succulent crab with a fine and delicate layer of crisp breading, each bite coats the palate with the fresh briny sweetness of the crab elegantly smoothened by the poached egg and Hollandaise. The caviar adds that flavorful burst of vibrant notes, tempering the savory richness for that finely balanced finish.
Sure, we've had crab cakes before but Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill just takes it next level with its masterful and elegantly precise execution. That delectable and palate pleasing play on textural contrasts from the crisp layer of breading to the succulent sweetness of the fresh crab and luscious layers of indulgent richness from the poached egg and Hollandaise just comes together with each lavish bite.
The Indian Ocean Prawn Cocktail (P 800) with garden fresh and crisp baby gem lettuce, tart and sweet pink pomelo and plump prawns with cocktail sauce is another must-try Appetizer tempting the eye before the palate with its presentation. Each distinct note from the different components weaves its flavorful richness complementing the other for a refreshing seafood starter. Each bite leaves a lingering sweetness from the prawns, pink pomelo and cocktail sauce as you go for yet another tasty bite.
Then, there's the Aged Steak Tartare (P 1,650) with finely minced raw beef fillet topped with egg yolk confit, gherkins, pickled shallots and served with a side of potato crisps. The flavors are intensely savory and rich yet fresh and clean with hints of Worcestershire punching through gracefully softened by the egg yolk confit. Savory flavors at its purest, only the finest aged beef with its concentrated and clean flavors makes the cut at Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill for its famous steak tartare.
Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill also offers Sturia Oscietra Caviar (P 8,000), Kristal Caviar (P 7,500) and David Hervé Oysters on a Half Shell (P 2,400 half dozen/P 4,588 1 dozen).
"Eh! All of you! Come here! Taste it! Taste it! Taste it!"
For the mains, it just has to be the Beef Wellington made famous once more by Chef Gordon Ramsay in his various culinary competition-themed TV shows. Named after Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington known for his epic victory at Waterloo, many say the now iconic Beef Wellington is a "timely patriotic rebranding of a trendy continental dish" of French origin. Gaining popularity after Napoleon's military defeat, the Beef Wellington we know today can be traced to the French filet de boeuf en croûte. But the victors take the prize naming it after the Duke of Wellington. Specific origins of the dish remain hazy to this day but it has since been a staple in formal English banquets in the early 20th century. Clearly it's a dish from a bygone age and era, and Chef Gordon Ramsay brings it back in style to the modern table.
That's right. The iconic dish is trendy once again, thanks to Chef Gordon Ramsay. The Beef Wellington (P 3,888) at Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill is a refined recreation of the British classic with MB7 Wagyu Beef Fillet, mushroom and truffle duxelles paired with creamed potatoes, carrots and red wine jus elegantly presented on a stark white plate. Take a closer look at the perfectly pink and juicy MB7 Wagyu Beef Fillet and recall how many time countless aspiring chefs have failed to present the same results in Chef Gordon Ramsay's TV shows. Why? It's a deceptively simple dish that demands precision to produce the desired results. And sure money says Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill gets it right all the time.
Your eyes are drawn to the juicy pink MB7 Wagyu Beef Fillet. This is what makes the pastry covered beef dish a proper Beef Wellington in the distinctively classic style of Chef Gordon Ramsay. Pure perfection on a plate, just as you'd expect from any kitchen by Chef Gordon Ramsay. And it's just fittingly appropriate that a true British culinary classic is reinterpreted in its traditional form by a British master chef.
Part of the presentation is the pouring of the red wine jus by the serving staff adding to the culinary theater vibe of the Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill experience. Carefully poured to one side of the Beef Wellington, the red wine jus brings a subtle sharpness tying in all the flavors together.
Yet it's all the elements together that completes the dish. From the delicately light and flaky buttery puff pastry and the mushroom and truffle duxelle to the MB7 Wagyu Beef Fillet down to the luscious creamed potatoes and red wine jus, the Beef Wellington at Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill certainly deserves all the buzz and attention on the net. The flavors are just so spot on for one of the best examples of the British classic. Yes, it's pricey. But did you honestly expect anything less?
Then, there's other tasty surprises from the kitchen like the Butterflied Red Sea Bream & Uni Sauce (P 1,888). Tasty and even surprisingly unexpected fresh off the charcoal grill, the delicate yet refreshing flavors of the fresh fish are punched up by Asian inspired lemon shiso and soy for another mouthwatering specialty expertly prepped by the kitchen at Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill.
The Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips (P 1,999) I hear is another must-try at Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill. From the charcoal grill, other tempting options include the Iberico Pork Secreto (P 1,988), Margra Rack of Lamb Cutlets M5+ (P 2,880), Australian Grass-Fed Ribeye Steak MB5 (P 4,988), Black Opal Chateaubriand MB7 (P 7,500), Australian Aged Beef Tomahawk (P 15,500), Grain-Fed Wagyu Striploin MB5 (P 4,800) and Grilled Maine Lobster Thermidor (P 2,400 Half/P 4,588 Whole).
You might forget that Chef Gordon Ramsay's first restaurant in the country is also a bar, so a libation is in order. I've always enjoyed a good Old-Fashioned and Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill takes it up a notch with their very own barrel-aged The Old Man (P 650) with Maker's Mark, Hennessy VSOP, Cocchi Americano Rosa, Manzana Apple Liqueur, Peychaud's and Angostura Bitters smoked in a glass dome before serving. Each sip brings the sweetness of the apple liqueur followed by smoky hints and the deep notes of spirits for a soothing and elevated take on a cocktail classic. One more round, please...
"Don't take it personally. Just take it seriously."
For the final course, dessert prepared by your tableside adds yet another elegant touch to your dining experience at Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill.
The rustic Caramelizd Apple Tart Tatin (P 780) with vanilla ice cream and sweet caramel sauce is perfect for sharing for that sweet ending to a memorable dining experience at Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill.
But it's really not a complete experience without yet another iconic British dessert like the Sticky Toffee Pudding (P 550) with vanilla ice cream and indulgent butterscotch sauce. Tradition and old world elegance meets the modern and contemporary at Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill for the best of both worlds in a lavish setting at Newport World Resorts.
"But sometimes you have to question even the best and greatest. Cookery is quite a journey. Take nothing for granted."
Beyond the hype and buzz on the net, Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill exceeds all expectations with its exquisite repertoire of dishes created by the renowned master chef. From the setting to each beautifully plated course from the open kitchen and libations from the bar, Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill is an experience in a class all it own.
