From The Grill To Your Plate at Johnny's Steak and Grill in B Hotel Quezon City

For years, residents from the northern part of the metro always knew where to find a good steak. The combination of quality and value has always been the establishment's top draw. Years after my very first visit, Johnny's Steak and Grill at B Hotel Quezon City still rocks. And here's why...


Open every Tuesday to Thursday from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Fridays to Sundays from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Johnny's Steak and Grill in B Hotel Quezon City still retains the very same look and vibe since my first time back in 2016 (for more on my first visit, see my post Now Grillin' in Quezon City: Johnny's Steak and Grill at B Hotel from seven years back). And that says a lot about the enduring staying power of the brand. Serving consistently good steaks for more than seven years is no small feat considering one pesky bug's global takeover during the long days of the pandemic. Good steaks remain the brand's calling card since 2016, and you can expect things to get even better with Executive Chef Vincent Odejar at the helm of all four dining outlets at B Hotel Quezon City including Johnny's Steak and Grill.


Unique to B Hotel Quezon City's dining outlets is the option to cross order from any of their restaurants like the Lobby Cafe (more on my post, Let's Do Lunch. And Breakfast Too. At The Lobby Cafe in B Hotel Quezon City on their new menu), Mezzanine Bar and Pastry Corner (stay tuned for my next blog post), and a meal at the four-star boutique hotel property becomes even more interesting. Whatever your craving, B Hotel Quezon City is ready to fix it in their refreshed culinary style spearheaded by Executive Chef Vincent Odejar.


Start your steak feast at Johnny's Steak and Grill with a comforting bowl of Forest Mushroom Soup (P 340) with mixed forest mushrooms, truffle essence and cream topped with toasted Herb Focaccia Bread. The thick and grainy soup with bits of mushrooms is smoothened by the cream for that silky finish while draping the palate with its deep earthy and nutty richness. Each sip warms the palate with its fresh and creamy flavors like a comforting hug for that perfect start to a steak feast. 

Other options include the Roasted Pumpkin Soup (P 320) as well as salads like the Chairman's Caesar Salad (P 400), the Brown Derby Cobb Salad (P 450) and Cured Salmon and Potato Salad (P 420) which they brine in-house.


The Tex-Mex Chicken Burger (P 580) with its huge slab of crispy and juicy breaded chicken with Mexican seasonings, jalapeño, garlic, onions, guacamole, Cheddar cheese and salsa on a soft brioche bun with a side of fries is one of the bestsellers from the Lobby Café. One bite and it's easy to see why. The oversized fillet of chicken with its crisp outer layer and assortment of toppings from the Cheddar and salsa to the guacamole, jalapeños, garlic and onions combine for a fiesta of flavors. The Mexican-inspired flavors and seasonings makes this chicken sandwich a serious contender.


From the Mezzanine Bar, The Sliders (P 580) with Blue Cheese, Camembert, Cheddar Cheese, juicy mini burger patties on soft mini buns paired with Truffle Fries offers a savory punch in a bite-sized package. The blend of cheeses conspire with the thick and juicy patties for big flavors. The Mezzanine Bar offers a wide selection of tapas and charcuterie boards to pair with your rounds of soothing libations.


In addition to steaks, Johnny's Steak and Grill also serves some of the best fall-off-the-bone ribs this side of the city led by their signature Honey Bourbon Baby Back Ribs (P 890) with its mildly sweet, tart and smoky finish topped with butter and served with corn and fries. And here's even more good news, don't forget to ask them about the Glazed Ribs Weekend promotion for only P 1,350 per person every Friday to Sunday from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

That evening, Executive Chef Vincent Odejar served the MB5 Westholme Australian Wagyu Striploin (P 4,000)...

Grilled to medium rare with a juicy pink center, the MB5 Westholme Australian Wagyu Striploin is one of many premium selections at Johnny's Steak and Grill. Raised in the vast rangelands of northern Australia, the tender slab of premium beef delivers bold, unrestrained and deep rounded flavors with every bite draping the palate with an indulgent savory richness.


Like butter, you don't even need any sauce at all for this beauty. But if you prefer your steak with some sauce, Johnny's Steak and Grill offers five variants from Red Wine Mushroom Sauce, Black Peppercorn Sauce, Béarnaise Sauce, Cranberry Gravy and JSG's Chicago Style Sweet Steak Sauce. But seriously, you don't need to complicate a good steak. Keeping it simple with a dab of butter and a pinch of salt are all you need to enjoy the MB5 Westholme Australian Wagyu Striploin.

Executive Chef Vincent Odejar had one last surprise from the grill at Johnny's Steak and Grill that evening. The Australian Lamb Rack (P 1,200), a French cut half-rack of lamb with mint jelly, compound butter and red wine jus completed the carnivorous feast at Johnny's Steak and Grill.


The rich and savory yet clean flavors of the lamb lingers on the palate with none of the gamey aftertaste. I've always enjoyed a good rack of lamb, gamey notes and all, but this rack from Johnny's Steak and Grill has to be one of the best ones yet.


A visit to Johnny's Steak and Grill is a must when in B Hotel Quezon City. Along with its other dining outlets namely the Lobby Café, Mezzanine Bar and Pastry Corner, it's really no wonder why many from the north consider B Hotel Quezon City as their own secret culinary gem. All four restaurants define the flavors and culinary styles of the four-star boutique hotel property, and you can enjoy all these flavorful experiences in one stop at B Hotel Quezon City.
