More Than Just Ramen at Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen...

One of the leading ramen chains straight from Japan brings more than just ramen to the table...

Since 1970, Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen shared its authentic take on Chikuho style noodles from the Kyushu region between Kiakyushu and Fukuoka cities with its flavorful Tonkotsu broth, Gyoza dumplings and Chashu roast pork unveiling one of many colorful layers of Japan's rich and diverse ramen culture to the world. Enjoy a bowl of authentic ramen along with other specialties for a taste of Japan in the metro at Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen...

Dining out is once again allowed as the metro slowly and cautiously opens up with the gradual easing of quarantine restrictions. With all the latest health and safety protocols in place including the strict enforcement of social distancing, dining out in the new normal means face masks, contact tracing and temperature scans for that added layer of protection. My very first experience with Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen was also one of my first posts on the blog and I've been visiting the restaurant since for more than just ramen (see more on my earlier posts here from 2013 and here also from eight year ago). Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen also offers a sumptuous selection of Katsu (available exclusively at the SM Megamall and SM Bacoor branches) and Donburi (available at the SM Megamall store) along with their specialty ramen for a satisfying Japanese feast.

The Ikkoryu Original Tonkotsu (P 199) with its creamy and milky broth remains the bestseller at Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen garnished with pork chashu, green onions, wood ear mushrooms and dried seaweed. level it up with the Ajitama Tonkotsu (P 230) topped with half-boiled egg marinated in a special blended soy sauce base for that flavorful punch. And just like my first time from eight years back, each sip is just pure joy.

The savory flavors of the broth drapes the palate with a lingering richness like a comforting hug followed by the springy noodles. The fork-tender Chashu just melts in your mouth releasing even more intense notes smoothened by the half-boiled egg for that balanced finish. It's the noodle fix you've been craving for during the long days of quarantine.

But there's more to Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen than just ramen. The Plain Katsu (P 230) elevates the classic Japanese staple with its intricate layers of high-grade pork in mille-feuille style wrapped in a delicate and lightly crisp breading.

A bite is announced by an audible crunch from the coating of crisp batter releasing the juicy richness of the layered high-grade pork. There is a lightness to the bite, but the flavors come through for a delectable play on textural contrasts and unctuous notes teasing the palate for another bite. Served with a dipping sauce, rice and shredded cabbage, it's a full meal in itself.

Choose from a wide variety of Katsu specialties, including the Katsu Curry (P 280) with their homemade Java-style curry...

...for that added layer of flavor that works well with steamed white rice. Other Katsu options at Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen include the Cheese Katsu (P 280) and Garlic Katsu (P 250) exclusively available at the SM Megamall and SM Bacoor branches.

Lightly crisp tempura with succulent prawns on soft and fluffy steamed white rice, you just can't go wrong with that. Exclusive to Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen at SM Megamall, the Ebi Ten Don (P 268) with large prawns should satisfy your tempura cravings from that first bite all the way to the last. The light and crisp batter doesn't mask the delicately fresh, clean briny sweetness of the prawns for that flavorful burst. And don't be surprised, you'll find yourself scooping up the rice at the bottom of the bowl in no time. Fresh, pure flavors, masterfully executed. Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen is more than just ramen.

Other Donburi selections at Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen in SM Megamall include the Ten Don (P 248) or Mixed Tempura, Gyu Don (P 238) with tender sliced beef, Oyako Don (P 198) with juicy chicken and egg and the traditional Katsu Don (P 198) with pork cutlet on rice. Ramen, Katsu and Donburi, you'll find it all here at Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen at SM Megamall. Dine in, take-out or delivery, have an authentic taste of traditional Japanese staples in one place.
