Dining in the Next Normal: Mediterranean Flavors Continue to Shine at Discovery Primea's Restaurant Tapenade

The new normal continues to make sweeping changes in our daily routine, and dining out is transformed with health and safety protocols due to the lingering threat of the viral pandemic. This is how it will be for the rest of the year, with social distancing each step of the way. But the bright flavors of the Mediterranean still shine in the metro, if you know where to find it. 


Restaurant Tapenade of Discovery Primea reopens to the public, geared for the new normal defining the dining out experience for 2020. And vibrant Mediterranean flavors continue to shine bright in the new normal at Restaurant Tapenade...

In addition to mandatory temperature scans and contact tracing forms, the new normal also features physical measures. Inside Restaurant Tapenade, diners will notice the implementation of health and safety protocols for proper social distancing including marked seats as well as plexiglass table dividers.
  

Dining out was always a special and much anticipated treat, but the quarantine changed all that. Though dining at home and the food delivery culture are now part of the new normal, nothing can replace that unique dine-in experience. That day, our lunch at Restaurant Tapenade included their popular dishes starting with tasty appetizers like Shrimps en Gabardina, Crunchy Patataswith Mojo Dip and Croquetas de Pollo y Trufa...


...and a refreshing salad, the Greek Horiatiki Salad topped with Kalamata olives and feta cheese served in individual sampler portions in keeping with social distancing protocols. Family style servings will have to take a backseat for now. 


Known for their specialty pizza, pasta and paella, Restaurant Tapenade offers both comforting traditional variants and modern interpretations (more on Restaurant Tapenade's Mediterranean-inspired cuisine on my post, Inspired Mediterranean Flavors: A Taste of the Mediterranean at Discovery Primea's Restaurant Tapenade). A duo of rustic pizza creations were served that day at Restaurant Tapenade with the Smoked Salmon Pizza and US Beef Short Ribs Pizza, fresh off the fired up ovens.


Each slice of pizza featured contrasting notes, with the light and delicate flavors of premium melt-in-your-mouth salmon and the robust savory flavors of the tender US Beef Short Ribs on a thin and crisp crust. Individual slices were served in compliance with the social distancing guidelines for dining out. Other pizza offerings include the Salumi, Pepperoni Calabrese, Quattro Formaggi, Grilled Artichokes, Alla FiorentinaMargherita and Alla Carbonara


Next, individual servings of pasta were served...


...starting with the Seafood Spaghetti Alla Tornola with succulent shrimps, squid and bay scallops draped in rich tomato sugo, a traditional Italian tomato sauce made with fresh tomatoes and cooked in extra virgin olive oil, onions, garlic and seasonings. The fresh, clean and briny notes of the fresh seafood are complemented by the tart and vibrant finish of the traditional sugo for a hearty pasta dish.


The Penne al Funghi with creamy Portobello and Shiitake mushrooms slathered in rich Oyster Mushroom Sauce brings a rich blend of deep, nutty and earthy flavors capped by the sharp notes from the shard of Parmigiano-Reggiano for a delicately balanced richness. Restaurant Tapenade offers a variety of pasta dishes including Spaghetti Alle Vongole, Spaghetti Carbonara and Spaghetti Bolognese.


And now, you're ready for Restaurant Tapenade's paella creations. The Wagyu Beef and Mushroom Paella isn't your traditional paella, with fork-tender premium Wagyu Beef drizzled with rich black pepper aioli and nutty mushrooms (and they know seriously good beef at Restaurant Tapenade, more on my post, Serious Beef. The combination of the Wagyu Beef and mushrooms bring an indulgent savory richness to the palate, intensified even more by the black pepper aioli with soft and moist rice (for more on Restaurant Tapenade's specialty paellas, see my earlier post, Mas Paella! The Roast Chicken and Chorizo Paella with garden fresh French beans topped with aromatic rosemary is another hearty creation offering yet another unique paella experience. The tender and juicy roast chicken with its lightly crisp outer layer brings its delicate notes to the palate followed by the bold flavors of chorizo for layers of flavors. 


Some guests would shred their roast chicken before that first bite to enjoy spoon after spoon of rich flavors without pausing to carve up the chicken. Enjoy your paella any way you wish at Restaurant Tapenade.
