This Valentine's, Executive Chef Edgar Alejandria reinterprets a romantic dinner with the special Valentine's Indulgence Set Menu at Oakwood Premier Joy-Nostalg Center Manila's Nostalgia Dining Lounge (for more on Nostalgia, see my earlier post, Spotlight on French Cuisine: Nostalgic Culinary Weeks at Nostalgia).
For Valentine's Day, Nostalgia Dining Lounge gets you in the romantic mood as you are serenaded by an intimate acoustic musical performance. The spacious and elegant interiors, with its signature dark wood tones and pristine white table linens, is the perfect spot to celebrate Valentine's Day this side of the metro. The special Valentine's Indulgence four-course dinner began with the refreshing Pan-Seared Tuna, Arugula, Cherry Tomato, Leeks, Nuts, and Dried Fruits, a rich and delicately flavored salad combining fresh and crisp greens with tuna, nuts, and dried fruits for layers of complex notes.
The briny sweetness of the tuna, lightly seared on the outside with a pink center, pairs well with the light yet tart and citrusy vinaigrette, the cherry tomatoes, nuts, and dried fruits adding even more flavors to the refreshing mix. And it's a great start to a romantic and indulgent dinner at Nostalgia Dining Lounge...
For the second course, Executive Chef Edgar Alejandria served up a comforting Cream of Tomato Soup, with tart tomatoes, mushrooms, and olive ravioli capped by a thin and crisp slice of premium Parma ham. The vibrant notes of the thick tomato soup are amplified by the intense flavors of the parma ham, tempered by the rich cream for balanced flavors. For the main course, two options are offered by Executive Chef Edgar Alejandria, including a hearty Surf and Turf, with crusted salmon and beef medallion, potatoes, French beans, tomato and garlic cream sauce for an indulgent combo.
The premium salmon, draped in a flavorful crust, contrasts with the deep savory notes of the beef medallion, each offering rich flavors. The medley of fresh vegetables complete the dish.
Nostalgia Dining Lounge's other option is the Beef and Scallop, with a perfectly grilled beef tenderloin topped with succulent seared scallops, carbonara leeks, grilled vegetables, marble potatoes and cream mushroom sauce for another indulgent dish.
The flavor and textural contrasts of the scallops and crisp carbonara leeks combine for another perfect pairing, while the richness of the beef tenderloin, grilled to a juicy medium rare, adds that savory finish to the dish. Like the Surf and Turf, each component of the Beef and Scallop come together in a seamless blend, combining for that romantic indulgence as reinterpreted by Executive Chef Edgar Alejandria.
But Executive Chef Edgar Alejandria has more tricks ups his sleeves to guarantee that perfect romantic dinner. For dessert, Executive Chef Edgar Alejandria pulls out all the stops with his decadent Red Velvet Cheesecake, a layered dessert combining the deep nutty notes of dark chocolate, creamy cheesecake, and red velvet in one sinful trifecta of pure indulgence.
Plated with crushed pistachios, almond slivers and topped with fresh berries, one bite of the soft, velvety smooth and chewy Red Velvet Cheesecake should do the trick in making you fall in love all over again. No kidding. The set menu includes coffee or tea, perfect with the indulgent dessert.
