Little Alice fell down the hole, bumped her head and bruised her soul...
Down the rabbit hole she went, and the adventures of Alice in Wonderland began in an epic childhood tale of fantasy and imagination. It's also the way to some sinfully indulgent desserts...at The Rabbit Hole.
What better way to welcome the new year than with another new dining destination in the metro. The Rabbit Hole draws inspiration from the Lewis Carrol's classic, reinterpreted in a modern yet homey cafe serving Asian-American comfort food like Chicken Teriyaki and Kimchi Rice, Crispy Pata Platter, comforting pastas, house-brewed iced teas, flat whites, and indulgent desserts. Owned and managed by one of the metro's leading food and beauty bloggers, Maxine Marcelino (check out her IG at @maxieissuper), The Rabbit Hole is a welcome addition to the ever-growing food scene. And I got to sample some of their signature desserts, paired with some tea, after all, it's always tea time according to the Mad Hatter. Cheese and caramel combine for a sinful and decadent dessert with The Rabbit Hole's Caramel Cheese Cake (P 125 Slice/P 1,200 Whole), with its soft and delicate texture. The mild sharpness of the cheese contrasts with the sweetness of the caramel, coming together in a seamless and comforting blend. It's a perfectly balanced dessert that's not overwhelmingly sweet, and yes, I'm going for another slice.
Indulge your chocoholic cravings with The Rabbit Hole's classic Chocolate Cake (P 90 Slice/P 850 Whole), a tall and moist dessert topped with chocolate curls and drizzled with caramel. I've always enjoyed chocolate and I like my cakes tall, and this one hits the spot. Twice. The deep, rounded notes of the chocolate lines your palate with its indulgent sweetness, capped by the caramel for yet another layer of decadence. The richness of the chocolate is comforting, and if it's chocolate you love, you'll want a thick slice of The Rabbit Hole's Chocolate Cake.
"We're all mad here..."said the Cheshire Cat. Mad for The Rabbit Hole's indulgent desserts. And I'm pretty sure Alice would have enjoyed this quaint little spot too. Here's to a bountiful new year, and to more of the decadent desserts at The Rabbit Hole...
